Beginning at 3:30PM EST on January 10, 2019, the Delaware Notary System will undergo routine maintenance that is scheduled to occur over the next several hours.

Please refrain from using the system until 12:00 PM EST on January 11, 2019.

Any application submissions, renewals or changes submitted during this time could result in the loss of information submitted to the Notary Public Section.

Welcome to the official site of Delaware’s Notary community. Here you will find all the information you need to apply for or renew your Delaware Notary commission. You can get information about legal and business requirements for notaries, and review key laws that pertain to notarization in Delaware.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a resident of another state and wish to become a Delaware Electronic Notary, you must meet several requirements:

  • You must currently be a currently commissioned Notary Public within the United States.
  • Your employer must also register with the State of Delaware. Businesses that can register under Delaware law include law firms and businesses currently regulated by a state (such as a bank, insurance company, title company or financial services business).
  • Your employer must register you either an employee or contractor of their business for the purpose of performing electronic notary acts.
  • You will receive a Delaware Notary Identification Card, a SMART ID card which must be used in conjunction with your electronic notary activities.
Further details are provided in the Notary Applicant, Notary Training and FAQ sections of the website, or please contact the Notary Office if you have questions.
